About the Press

ATIK aims to become one of the largest independent academic open access publishers. Our mission is to help researchers make their results available to the public, giving scholars the opportunity to make a real impact and drive positive change.

Meaning of ATIK

Atik is a Kichwa word, the language of the indigenous communities of the Sierra of Ecuador. Its Spanish translation is "conqueror".

Our logo emulates peaks of ascent and descent, which when connected with the idea of Atik, we understand that life is a process and transition between falling down and getting up. Hence, for us, the conqueror [ATIK] is the one who keeps on fighting.

The aim of this type of publication is to present the reader with a book that is less technical and more pleasant to read. This helps the book to be disseminated and cited more.
