Desde meados do século XX, compostos organoestânicos como o tributilestanho revolucionaram a proteção de cascos de navios, mas seu legado persiste décadas após sua proibição global. Este livro explora a contaminação por tintas antifouling no Mediterrâneo, utilizando os mexilhões como sentinelas ambientais. Por meio da análise de metais como cobre e zinco acumulados nesses organismos filtradores, revela-se como portos e marinas concentram níveis alarmantes de substâncias tóxicas que alteram a reprodução de moluscos e ameaçam ecossistemas inteiros. Uma obra essencial para compreender o impacto invisível da atividade náutica e a urgência de desenvolver estratégias de controle que permitam alcançar um bom estado ambiental em nossas costas.
