Synopsis

Higher education in Latin America is undergoing a transformation driven by educational innovation and the integration of digital technologies. This chapter addresses the role of digital financial simulation as a pedagogical resource in university education, particularly in the fields of business administration, accounting, and finance. A conceptual framework is proposed that integrates educational innovation into higher education and describes how simulation constitutes an interactive, safe, and experimental learning environment. Furthermore, it analyzes experiences from Latin American universities—specifically in Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile, and Argentina—that demonstrate the incorporation of this tool into academic programs. The chapter is structured around the theoretical context, learning objectives, and the potential of digital financial simulation to articulate both technical and transversal competencies, providing an overview of its relevance in the digital age.
